Location

Tawas Point Lighthouse is located in Tawas Point State Park, off U.S. 23, 2.5 miles southeast of East Tawas.

Admission

Admission to the lighthouse is $2 per person. Proceeds help fund the restoration of and exhibits for the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's quarters.

A Michigan State Parks motor-vehicle permit is required for entry to the park.

2009 Season Dates and Hours

LIGHTHOUSE

Through September 6, lighthouse tours are offered seven days a week (including holidays) between noon and 6 p.m. Please note that this schedule is subject to staff availability.

During the rest of the year, individuals and groups wishing to tour the lighthouse should call ahead to determine tour availability or to schedule an appointment. See contact information below.

Tawas Point Lighthouse is open during all special events at the park, regardless of the season.
MUSEUM STORE

Through September 6, the Museum Store at Tawas Point Lighthouse is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week (including holidays). Please note that this schedule is subject to staff availability.

During the rest of May, September and October, the Museum Store is open subject to staff availability. Please call ahead, using the telephone numbers below.

The Museum Store at Tawas Point Lighthouse is open during all special events at the park, regardless of the season.

How Much Time?

Please allow one hour to tour the lighthouse and the Museum Store.

Even when the lighthouse is not open for tours inside, visitors can enjoy its exterior and grounds. There are several other historic buildings on site, including an oil building and a fog house.

The park also offers camping, picnicking, hiking and other seasonal activities.

Pets: Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcomed on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. For further information, please refer to the DNR web page, Pets in State Park Campgrounds.

Accessibility

This site is not accessible to people who are unable to climb stairs.
