Mineral and Land Management

PROPOSED OIL AND GAS LEASE AUCTION: Approximately 98,000 acres of state-owned mineral rights located in 25 counties are proposed to be offered for lease at an oral auction on May 5, 2009, with bidding to begin at 9 a.m. The proposed location is the Michigan Constitution Hall at 525 West Allegan Street, Lansing. Standard lease includes a five-year term with two, one-year options to extend, 1/6 royalty rate, $2 per acre annual rental for the primary term and initial $13 per acre minimum bonus consideration, which includes a $3 audit fee. DIRECT OIL AND GAS LEASE - DEVELOPMENT: Oil and gas lease rights to 37.04 acres, more or less, of state-owned mineral rights located in Section 2, T26N, R09W, Union Township, Grand Traverse County, have been requested by MP Michigan, LLC, of Dallas, Texas. Town Hall Meetings to Engage Public in Determining Conservation Priorities

These meetings are a chance for DNR Director Rebecca Humphries to discuss with a broad range of recreational enthusiasts how to best invest in conservation during these tough economic times, the DNR's role in natural resources management, land management, how best to recruit new outdoor enthusiasts, DNR priorities for the future, and what citizens value the most about their outdoor activities in Michigan.
