Contact:  Stacy Welling 906-228-6561
Agency: Natural Resources

Oct. 28, 2009

The Western Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) for the Department of Natural Resources will meet Monday, Nov. 9, at Bay College - West Campus, located at 2801 North Stephenson Ave. (US Hwy. 2) in Iron Mountain.

DNR staff will present division reports and answer questions from council members and the public beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern time (5 p.m. Central), followed immediately by the council meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Eastern time (5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Central).

Agenda items include:

-- ORV/snowmobile subcommittee report
-- Special presentation on DNR/DEQ merger

The CACs were formed to give U.P. citizens more input into DNR regional programs and activities. The councils, in both the Eastern U.P. and Western U.P., represent a wide array of outdoor recreation interests and help the DNR identify ways to be more effective across the region.

CAC meetings are open to the public. If you would like to be considered as a future CAC member, please fill out the nomination form found on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/dnr. Click on Commissions, Boards & Committees, then go to Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Councils to find the nomination form. For more information, contact DNR Upper Peninsula Field Deputy Stacy Welling at (906) 228-6561.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, accessible use and enjoyment of the State's natural resources for current and future generations.
