Wilderness State Park Creates Partnership to Offer Outfitter Services

The Department of Natural Resources announced that Wilderness State Park has entered into a concession agreement to offer new outdoor recreation programs at the park. Wilderness has partnered with The Outfitter from Harbor Springs, which will offer a variety of activities at the park including kayak lessons, guided trips on the 26 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and other excursions. The services will be offered by reservation between Memorial and Labor Day.

The Outfitter would like to focus on educational programs and team building for the fall, winter and spring programs, possibly working with the cabin rental groups.

Wilderness State Park is located at 903 Wilderness Park Dr. in Carp Lake, just west of Mackinaw City. Reservations for camping at any state park can be made by calling 800-447-2757 or online at: www.midnrreservations.com.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
