July 14, 2008

The Department of Natural Resources announced today that P.H. Hoeft State Park will host two "GO-Get Outdoors" Co-Ed Volleyball tournaments on July 26 and Aug. 9.

Visitors are invited to the beach volleyball pit area to challenge each others' volleyball skills. The volleyball pits are located in the sandy dunes located along the Lake Huron shoreline. Teams must have a minimum of four players, as game play will be 4-on-4. All skill levels are welcome.

Interested teams may sign-up for the events by calling the park at 989-734-2543 or they can stop by the campground office for a registration sheet. Teams must be registered by July 24 for the July 26 tournament and Aug. 7 for the Aug. 9 tournament. A "last chance" sign-up will take place from 8:30-9 a.m. on the days of the events, if there is room on the schedule.

P.H. Hoeft State Park is located at 5001 US-23 North, just five miles north of Rogers City. For more information about the tournaments or the park, contact the park at 989-734-2543. P.H. Hoeft State Park is host to 144 campsites, a mini cabin, a newly-remodeled modern lodge, a historic pavilion and a group use area.

Reservations for camping at any state park can be made by calling 800-447-2757 or online at www.midnrreservations.com.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
