9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Five outdoor hands-on learning stations will feature topics on preserving habitat for wildlife, soils, water quality, the Great Lakes, and Michigan sand dunes and forests; plus a tour of the Visitor Center that includes an opportunity to view the Michigan Sand Dune Story DVD.
1 p.m. Beach and Trail Cleanup
All elementary schools are welcome to sign up for this special day. Experience beautiful Hoffmaster State Park, the Lake Michigan shoreline and the park's beautiful sand dunes with your students while learning about Michigan's tremendous natural resource legacy! Student groups will rotate among the five stations instructed by professionals from the Alliance of the Great Lakes, USDA NRCS and Timberland RCD.
Students also may tour the Visitor Center in the morning.
Groups have the option to remain after lunch to participate in beach and trail cleanup efforts.
This program is free to all participants. All school buses will have free entry into the park. Private vehicles will be required to have a motor vehicle permit. The daily permit is $6.
