In answer to requests received each year for a method of contributing to forest management programs of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), a donation program and State Forest Family have been developed. Gifts can be accepted in any amount and will be directed to the program of the donor's choice. Reforestation, erosion control, trash removal or Adopt-a-Forest and maintenance of recreational facilities are a few examples of the many programs conducted on the 3.8 million acres of Michigan's State Forest lands that may receive contributions.
Donors of up to $49 receive a special letter of thanks signed by the State Forester of Michigan.
Each donor of $50 or more becomes a member of the State Forest Family and receives a lapel pin bearing the State Forest Family emblem. They also receive a special individualized certificate of appreciation.
Donations of $500 or more will, in addition to Family membership, a certificate and pin, be recognized with the donor's name and purpose of donation being placed on a brass plate attached to the "State Forest Family Honor Roll" boards on display in DNR Lansing and regional locations.
Contributions can be made by check or money order payable to the "State of Michigan" and sent to:
