Important Landuse- Related Comments for State Game/Wildlife Areas
NOTE: It is your responsibility, as a user of public lands, to ensure you are informed of all current rules and regulations relevant to your activities. The rules presented here or on the map products represent some details relevant to public land use, but are not a complete list of all rules and regulations, and may not be as immediately updated as current legislation and rules. These products are not legal notice, nor a complete collection of hunting regulations and laws. It is a condensed tool issued for convience on this specific subject. Contact your local Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) office if you have questions, or to verify regulations relating to possible activities before engaging in those activities. If you are reading a hardcopy of this index, ensure you seek updated map products from the DNR website; the DNR is on the internet at "
www.michigan.gov ".

The current Game/Wildlife Area - State Land Rules document is a set of reminders of rules and regulations relevant to game and wildlife area landuse. This document is found as a standalone single page or may be found on the back of many game/wildlife area maps. The current Game/Wildlife Area State Land Rules document overrides any rules on any older maps users may still have. These regulations apply to all areas, even thouse with special back comments.

The main game/wildlife area maps (grayscale unit maps) are double-sided with a map on front side and a back side containing either the standard land rules page or special reminders on rules and regulations. Some of the following maps have special rules or information on the back (second) page, but the current Wildlife & Game Area - State Land Rules and the complete State Land Use Rules still apply. For successful outdoors experience, ensure you can confirm your planned activities are allowable - when in doubt, call the local office for assistance.

Hunting and/or trapping may be possible on State Forest, State Parks, and State Recreation Lands, however those Divisions may have differing landuse rules and regulations for those areas. There are also some special State Wildlife Management Areas found within State Forest, State Parks, and State Recreation Lands, but these areas are not dedicated game/wildlife areas under direct Wildlife Divison admininstration. Public usage needs for State Forest, State Parks, and State Recreation Lands may cause different hunting and trapping opportunities.
