The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans is fortunate to have individuals and organizational support in our ongoing activity program and for special events. Our volunteers give the veterans at GRHV the support and encouragement they need to enjoy life to its fullest capacity.
Individual volunteers work at a variety of volunteer jobs from host/hostess in the hospitality room, Kozy Korners, to escorts for shopping trips. Organizations provide bingo games, picnic and trip opportunities as well as special events.
Veterans Service Organizations, such as, the American Legion, AMVETS, DAV, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, Marines Corps League, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Jewish War Veterans, Catholic War Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans, and Polish Legion of American Veterans have all historically provided a means for veterans to have some fun and companionship while staying at the Home.
The volunteers enable a level of care that would otherwise not be available. The interaction of these skilled representatives and attentive volunteers with the members and staff, create an atmosphere for a quality of care based upon respect and appreciation for service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
All volunteers provide friendship and a sense of community to the "American Heroes" residing at GRHV.
