The Capitol Complex and Secondary Complex Motor Pools are staffed from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Vehicles can be picked up or returned to the Capitol Complex Motor Pool after hours using the Allegan Street entrance. Push the call box button for assistance. After verifying as noted below, the gate will be opened.
For Pick Up: Drivers must show the operator their SOM employee ID card and a hard copy of the VTS confirmation email. For Drop Off: Drivers must show the operator their SOM employee ID card; the operator will also verify the customer is driving a state vehicle.
Vehicles can be returned to the Secondary Complex Motor Pool after hours. Park the vehicle in the VTS parking lot and lock the keys in the trunk. No after hours pick up is available.
Policies
Motor pool vehicles have a 100 mile round trip minimum.
Drivers must notify the motor pool office of any vehicle return changes.
An additional fee will be incurred when a vehicle is returned:
With less than 3/4 tank of fuel
With excessive debris/spills in the interior
Excessively dirty exterior
Beyond the end of business of the date/time identified on the reservation form without notification to the motor pool office.
Reservations for large passenger vehicles require a minimum of three passengers.
Fifteen-passenger vehicles can be obtained from the State of Michigan Enterprise Rent-A- Car website located at http://www.michigan.gov/dmb/0,1607,7-150-9141_13133_13720-111876--,00.html. Please provide a one week notice to rent this kind of vehicle. Fifteen-passenger van training or a CDL is required to drive a 15-passenger van. On-line training can be obtained by calling VTS at 517-322-5051.
VTS may refuse to provide a vehicle to a driver who does not comply with motor pool usage policies and procedures, such as those habitually late to pick up or return a vehicle.
Reservations will be confirmed by e-mail within 24 hours. There is no guarantee that a vehicle will be available. -
Requests must include the date and time the vehicle will be returned. -
Drivers must possess a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle desired (e.g., CDL licenses must be compatible with the type of truck the driver is requesting).
