Wind Turbines Installed at Mackinaw City

alternative energy, wind turbines, Mackinac City, Harbor
Eight wind turbines have been installed and tested at the Mackinaw City State Harbor. These turbines will provide electricity to power a portion of the harbormaster's building as well as a portion of the operation of the ice suppression bubbler system necessary to protect the docks. These turbines were placed on the former ferry dock and extend into Lake Huron. The entire project will be complete in 2010. Harold Belcher (DMB) and Ken Davis (DNR) are providing project direction and field representation on behalf of the State of Michigan.
