Construction Plan Review and Permits  provides plan reviews and issues construction permits in three different agencies: the Bureau of Construction Codes , the Bureau of Health Systems , and the Office of Fire Safety .

Bureau of Construction Codes is responsible for the administration of the Construction Code Act, the Building Officials Registration Act, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and licensing laws, as well as the boiler elevator  programs. Plan Review Division provides examinations to assure the construction project is designed in compliance with the code.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has granted DMB status as an Authorized Public Agency for managing Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control for projects managed by DMB.

Health Facilities Evaluation Section  of the Bureau of Health Systems   performs plan review and issues construction permits for construction or renovation of health care facilities.
