License Exams

License Exams

Applicants who have successfully completed the education and work experience requirements are required to pass three examinations to become a licensed Professional Surveyor in the State of Michigan. The three exams are (NCEES) Fundamentals of Surveying (FLS) exam, (NCEES) Principles and Practice of Surveying (PLS) exam, and the Michigan Principles and Practice of Surveying (PTII-B) exam.

The FS and PS examinations are administered in the spring and fall of every year. Applications are due in the Board Office by January 1st for the spring exam or July 1st for the fall exam. In addition to applying with the Board Office, applicants for the FS and PS examination must also apply with Engineering & Land Surveying Examination Service (NCEES Exam Administration Services) after approval.

The Michigan Principles and Practice Examination (PT-II-B) is not administered by NCEES Exam Administration Services. Upon Board Approval, candidates will be referred to the examination contractor, Psychological Services Inc. (PSI) to register for the next scheduled examination.
