Separate from the on-site MCB Training Center courses, the week-long Mini Adjustment Programs are provided by MCB Training Center staff at various locations around the state. MCB'S Mini Adjustment Programs provide an introduction to skills of blindness and services provided by MCB and other organizations. The great feature of these programs is that they serve as a mobile classroom. This enables MCB to provide training at sites throughout the state in order to reach as many clients as possible. Although these can vary, some examples of classes offered include mobility (cane travel), communications, and adaptive diabetes management, devices for people who are deaf, talking clocks, writing guides, Braille, and support groups. These services encourage clients to pursue further blind rehabilitation training.
Who provides instruction?
Michigan Commission for the Blind staff, blind rehabilitation teachers, orientation and mobility instructors, vocational counselors, Western Michigan University students, and retired MCB staff.
