In considering petitions at adjudicative sessions and public hearings, the Commission protects the due process of multiple interests by evaluating statutory criteria and the evidence submitted on the record. The Commission has authority to recommend approval or denial of a petition. This recommendation can include an area that is smaller or larger than the territory proposed in the original petition. For a boundary adjustment petition to proceed smoothly, statutory procedures, requirements, and timelines must be followed and met.
