NOVEMBER 12, 2002 - Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS), Bureau of Regulatory Services has issued an order of summary suspension and notice of intent to revoke action to Delta County group day care home licensees, Debra & Vernon Streeter, 1404 15.45 Lane, Bark River, Michigan.  Debra & Vernon Streeter have been ordered to immediately cease providing to children effective 5:00 p.m. , Friday, November 8, 2002.  These actions are the result of a recent complaint investigation of the group day care home.

Under Michigan statute, a group day care home is defined as “a private home in which more than 6 but not more than 12 minor children are given care and supervision for periods of less than 24 hours a day unattended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to an adult member of the group by blood, marriage, or adoption.  A group day care home includes a home that gives care to an unrelated minor child for more than 4 weeks during a calendar year.”

The November 5, 2002, findings of the complaint investigation found that:

·     On or about 10/21/2002, Respondent Vernon Streeter was arrested and charged with 4^th degree CSC misdemeanor.  The alleged victim was a minor household member.

·     On 10/30/2002, Respondent Vernon Streeter was bound over to the Delta County Circuit Court for trial on the charge of 4^th degree CSC.

Effective 5:00 p.m. , Friday. November 8, 2002 the Summary Suspension Order requires Debra & Vernon Streeter not to operate a group day care home at 1404 15.45 Lane, Bark River, Michigan.  Children are not to be received for care after that date or time.  The order also requires Debra & Vernon Streeter to inform all of the parents or guardians of children in care that the license has been suspended and child care can not longer be provided. 

An Administrative Hearing regarding the Department’s suspension and revocation action will be scheduled.

Debra & Vernon Streeter have held a license to operate a group day care home since April 18, 2002 was for 12 children.
