DECEMBER 17, 1999 - The Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS) has summarily suspended the medical license of Marcelino C. Sorongon due to nine March 1999 felony convictions. Sorongon was found guilty of five counts of Medicaid False Statements and four counts of Health Care False Claims. Sorongon failed to report these convictions to the Department as required by the Public Health Code. Sorongon’s license was summarily suspended pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional’s license upon conviction of a felony, a two-year misdemeanor, or a misdemeanor involving controlled substances.
An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Sorongon’s suspended medical license.
