Governor's Interagency Task Force on Employee Misclassification to Meet on April 16 in Detroit - News Advisory

APRIL 8, 2009 – The Governor's Interagency Task Force on Employee Misclassification will hold a public meeting on Thursday, April 16, in Detroit.  The two-hour meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the L-450 Conference Room in the Cadillac Place Bldg. 3044 W. Grand Boulevard.

The Task Force, which is chaired by Susan Corbin, a deputy director at the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, is examining the issue of workers who are misclassified as "independent contractors," rather than as employees, and the related problem of the underground economy.

The meeting site and parking are accessible.  Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone.  Those with disabilities requiring additional services (such as materials in an alternative format) in order to participate in the meeting should call (313) 456-2411 or email grahamsonja@michigan.gov or call (313) 456-2416 or email strachanmaureena@michigan.gov at least three business days prior to the meeting.
