Governor's Interagency Task Force on Employee Misclassification to Meet on June 17, 2008 in Lansing - News Release

JUNE 12, 2008 - The Governor's Interagency Task Force on Employee Misclassification will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. The meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Unemployment Insurance Agency's (UIA) Problem Resolution Office, 5015 South Cedar St., Lansing, MI 48910-5798.

The Task Force, which is chaired by Keith Cooley, director of the Department of Labor & Economic Growth, is examining the issue of workers who are misclassified as "independent contractors," rather than as employees, and the related problem of the underground economy.

The meeting site and parking are accessible.  Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone.  People with disabilities requiring additional services (such as materials in alternative format) in order to participate in the meeting should call 313.456.2411 or email grahamsonja@michigan.gov at least three business days prior to the meeting.  DLEG is an equal opportunity employer/program.
