June 12, 2008 - From June 20, 2008 through June 27, 2008 thousands of people of short stature from around the United States and world will gather at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center Hotel for the 51st National Little People of America (LPA) Conference in downtown Detroit. LPA is partnering with Marriott Hotel, General Motors and the City of Detroit to bring global solutions and awareness to the prominent issues affecting people with dwarfism and demonstrate the value and productive contribution Little People bring to our society. The week-long conference is loaded with cultural, social, and informational events.

The National Conference is hosted by District Five of Little People of America, Inc. The District expects over 2,000 members to attend the conference. Medical and Educational Workshops, Sport Competitions, an Expo, a Talent and Fashion Show, a Detroit Tigers Baseball Game, a trip to the Greenfield Village/ Henry Ford Museum, and the DIA and Motor City Banquet and Awards Celebration are some of the activities planned for Little People and their families and supporters.
