Pfizer of Kalamazoo County to Receive Star Award for Workplace Safety & Health Excellence - News Advisory

May 9, 2008 – Pfizer of Kalamazoo County will receive the Star Award, the state's highest workplace safety and health award, from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), at a special ceremony on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 11:00 a.m., 7000 Portage Road in Portage.  News media are invited to cover the event.

The Michigan Voluntary Protection Programs (MVPP) Star Award for outstanding safety and health programs is awarded by MIOSHA, and recognizes worksites that provide exemplary safety and health protection for their workers.  The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (DLEG).

MIOSHA Director Doug Kalinowski will present the MVPP Star Award to Pfizer Kalamazoo Site Leader Niall Condon and representatives of the Pfizer Kalamazoo County team.  Pfizer Global Manufacturing President Nat Ricciardi will congratulate Kalamazoo employees on their safety and health success. Employees and guests will attend the presentation. 

Pfizer is the world's largest research-based biomedical and pharmaceutical company.  The Kalamazoo County site produces high-quality medicines and is the largest Pfizer manufacturing facility in the world, as well as Pfizer's global research headquarters for veterinary medicine.  Pfizer employs more than 3,500 workers in west Michigan.
