The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today levied a $1,500 fine on LDMI Telecommunications, now known as Cavalier Telephone, for three violations of the Michigan Telecommunications Act (MTA). It also ordered the company to pay certain costs to Thomas C. DeWard, who filed the complaint on May 9, alleging violations of the MTA.
In today's order, the MPSC adopted the recommendations of the administrative law judge, who found three violations of the MTA involving false statements made to DeWard and who recommended the company pay a fine of $500 for each violation - a total of $1,500.
The order also directs the utility to reimburse or credit DeWard $9.40 for the cancellation fee charged by AT&T and reimburse him $1,904.68 for his fees and actual costs.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
