I would like to conduct a wine tasting at my grocery store or in the vacant building next door. What are the rules?

A. MCL 436.2027 allows wine tasting events only in establishments licensed to sell for on-premises consumption. Therefore, only licensed bars, restaurants, hotels, clubs and Special 24-hour licensees can host a wine tasting event. Neither your grocery store nor the vacant building next door could be used to host a wine tasting event. Questions about wine tastings should be directed to the MLCC Enforcement Division, 517-322-1370 or toll free 1-866-893-2121.
