Reinstatement

For residents, if the pre-empting Property and Casualty or Accident and Health license is suspended for education, suspended for compliance, or voluntarily surrendered, the Surplus Lines license will be inactivated.  If the pre-empting license that was suspended for education is reinstated with the 90 day statutory limit, the Surplus Lines license will remain inactive.  The licensee will need to re-apply for the Surplus Lines license, and resubmit application fees.

If a resident does not re-submit a new application and fee within 12 months of the inactivation date, the licensee will need to register for re-examination of the Surplus Lines exam and pass before being re-issued a new Surplus Lines license.

For non-residents, if the home state license becomes inactive, suspended for education, suspended for compliance, or voluntarily surrendered, the non-resident Michigan license will be inactivated.  The license will not automatically be reinstated even if the home state license is reactivated.  The non-resident will need to resubmit a new application and fees.
