Reinstatement

Counselor - Reinstatement

A counselor license can be reinstated if 1) the license has been inactive for less than 2 years if they became inactive before March 1, 2002, or 2) the license has been inactive for less than 1 year if they became inactive after March 1, 2002. If your license has been inactive longer than that, you will need to follow the directions under How to become licensed as a counselor

  • Counselor Application FIS 0221
  • Fee Processing Card FIS 0223
  • Application/License Fee - $20.00 non-personal check or money order payable to State of Michigan

Non-Resident Counselor - Reinstatement

  • Counselor Application FIS 0221
  • Fee Processing Card FIS 0223
  • Application/License Fee - $20.00 non-personal check or money order payable to State of Michigan
  • A letter of certification from the home state must specify that the applicant is licensed as a counselor for life or property and casualty. If the certification is not so specific, the applicant would be required to take the applicable Michigan examination. Register for an exam - call Promissor at 1-800-274-2623 or Register for an Exam online.
