Butch Hollowell will Present Overview of Office of Insurance Advocate at Media Roundtable on July 16 in Lansing

July 15, 2008 - State Automobile and Home Insurance Consumer Advocate Melvin Butch Hollowell will hold a media roundtable at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth in Lansing.

At the roundtable, Hollowell will discuss the role and objectives of his office and present highlights of the newly launched insurance advocate website, www.michigan.gov/lowerratesnow. Media also will have the opportunity to ask questions.

In her 2008 State of the State address, Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm announced the Office of the Michigan Automobile and Home Insurance Consumer Advocate to fight for affordable, reliable, and fair auto and home insurance in Michigan. Hollowell was named to the position effective April 6.

All interested media are invited to attend. Paid parking is available in the State of Michigan visitors' lot located on Allegan Street between Butler and Pine Streets; metered parking is also available on Pine and Ottawa Streets. Visitors must check in to the building at the guard desk at the main entrance and ask to be escorted up to the fourth floor.

The meeting site and parking are accessible. Individuals attending the ceremony are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. People with disabilities requiring additional services (such as materials in alternative format) should call (517) 373-9280 prior to the event. DLEG is an equal opportunity employer/program.
