Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

April 22, 2008

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today reconciled Consumers Energy Company's 2006 power supply cost recovery (PSCR) costs, and it approved the company's 2007 PSCR factor.

In Case No. U-14701-R, the MPSC found that utility had an under-recovery for 2006 of $55,931,560, including interest, through December 2006.  Customers will also see a one-time surcharge to recover an under-recovery of $12,928,602 due to pension equalization mechanism (PEM) and other post employment benefit costs.

The Commission also determined that the utility will refund large commercial and industrial customers $1,357,973 through a one-time credit.

In Case No. U-15001, the MPSC authorized the utility to charge a PSCR factor of up to $0.01435 per kilowatt-hour for the 12-month period ending Dec. 31, 2007.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
