The Michigan Capital Area Chapter (MCAC) received its charter in August 1999. The MCAC chapter has grown from 69 charter members in August 1999 to nearly 200 by September 2002. The chapter has over 70 Project Management Professionals (PMPs).
Members represent a variety of industries; Government, Consulting; IT, Insurance, Financial Services to name a few.
The Michigan Capital Area Chapter has hosted PMP Preparation Training Classes, as well as other Project Management training opportunities. The chapter hosts an all-day Project Management conference with multiple educational tracks every 18 months.
MCAC Mission:
The Michigan Capital Area Chapter is established to provide a professional forum dedicated to promoting project management excellence by:
· Encouraging the development of professional project management
· Sharing project management expertise
· Providing project management education and training
· Supporting the application of project management standards

MCAC Chapter Goals include:
· Host a Professional Development Day every 18 months
· Use the chapter’s newsletter (Maximum Float) as tool to promote the chapter and PMI
· Attract corporate sponsorship for the chapter
· Develop an academic relations program
· Continually host PMP Prep Classes
· Promote monthly meetings in local media using public service announcements
· Continue to enrich Bonus Program quality and attendance
· Increase relevance of monthly dinner program presentations
· Increase attendance at the Chapter’s monthly dinner programs including the bonus programs
