The Formation of the Department of Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) was created in October 2001 by Executive Order No. 2001-3 to achieve a unified and more cost-effective approach for managing information technology among all Executive Branch agencies.   As a state agency, DIT is empowered to enact the enterprise use of common information technologies and provide consistent professional management of the state's Information Technology (IT) resources.
