Renewal InformationFollowing is a list of insurance license types that expire annually on March 31 and their corresponding renewal fees:
Renewal fees are non-refundable and non-transferable in accordance with MCL 500.240 of the Michigan Insurance Code. Please be aware that renewal invoices will not be mailed to Adjusters, Counselors, Surplus Lines licensees, Solicitors, or the sponsors of Solicitor licensees as done in the past. It is the responsibility of each licensee to ensure that their license is renewed each year by March 31. Surplus Lines Renewal Information OFIR has implemented an online renewal application process through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), at www.nipr.com. All surplus lines licensees are required to renew their license via www.nipr.com. Select from the Resident or Non-Resident Producer Renewal links to access the appropriate renewal application for Surplus Lines. NIPR charges a $5.00 service fee in addition to the renewal fee for utilizing their service. The online renewal system will be available annually from February 1 through March 31. After completing the online application, a receipt can be printed to confirm the renewal fee was submitted. The licensee record will reflect an updated expiration date and a new license document will be generated. Additionally, licensees can view their license record information on one of our insurance locators: Individuals: Insurance Licensee Locator Business Entities: Insurance Agency Locator Michigan Resident and Non-Resident Adjuster, Counselor and Solicitor Renewal Information OFIR has implemented an online renewal application process and each licensee is required to complete an online renewal application through one of the following websites:
Solicitor and Counselor renewal applicants - select from the resident and non-resident producer renewal links on the NIPR home page. Adjuster renewal applicants - select from the resident and non-resident adjuster links on the NIPR home page. The individual license number is the individual's Social Security Number (SSN) and the business entity license number is the business entity's Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN). NIPR charges a $5.00 service fee in addition to the renewal fee for utilizing their service. Michigan Non-Resident Adjusters, Counselors and Solicitors whose home (residence) state does not require licensure should be aware that NIPR is unable to process renewal applications for Adjuster, Counselor and Solicitor licensees who are not licensed in their home state. Non-resident Adjuster, Counselor or Solicitor licensees who are unable to renew on NIPR must renew via the OFIR Licensing Express Renewal website. Notification of a canceled license is mailed to the mailing address on file. To voluntarily surrender a license, the licensee is required to sign, date and mail the original license to OFIR for destruction. If the original license cannot be located, the licensee is required to submit a signed statement indicating that the license is being surrendered, but the license document could not be located and if located it will be destroyed. The statement must include the license number and be signed by the licensee. The voluntary surrender can be sent to:
Reinstatement of the above licenses may occur upon submission of a new application through the NIPR website and payment of appropriate fee(s). Resident license applications must be received within 12 months of the license inactivation date. If received after 12 months, any resident pre-licensing and/or exam requirements will apply. |
