Disability Advocacy

The OEODP is responsible for managing Agency compliance with the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA); the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Michigan Handicapper Civil Rights Act.

Major activities in this area are:

  • Distribution and monitoring of self-evaluations for the Department's programs and facilities
  • Reasonable Accommodations Request approval
  • Department liaison on federal discrimination complaints regarding disabilities with employees and customers
  • Manage Reasonable Accommodation
