The Bureau of Juvenile Justice Financial Unit provides central support and coordination of the bureau's operating budget totaling over $85 million and includes funding for approximately $15 million in federal, restricted, and state programs. The unit facilitates development of the annual budget in conjunction with the DHS Budget Office, State Budget Office and the House and Senate fiscal agencies.
Organization and administration of the fiscal data by the financial unit assures timely, accurate and efficient use of the bureau's budget and educates bureau staff and customers on actions needed to secure compliance with financial rules, regulations and good business practices.
The financial unit oversees accounting and purchasing activities for the entire bureau. Responsibilities include activities such as audit liaison, internal control assistance, procurement, contract and lease management support, financial status and projection reports, revenue control, accounts payable and year end closing functions.
The mission of the Bureau of Juvenile Justice's financial unit is to provide quality, customer focused services to its 750-plus central office and residential center employees in support of staffing, budget, facility development and human resource management needs necessary for achieving the bureau's goals and objectives.
