EPA Brownfield Grant Applicants and Recipients 2012-2013

EPA announced the 2013 Brownfield Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup (ARC) Grants proposal guideline availbility on September 14, 2012.  Proposals were due by December 3, 2012.  The requirements for the grant proposal include receiving a letter of acknowledgment from the DEQ.  Letters of acknowledgment were provided to the applicants by the Remediation and Redevelopment Division, Brownfield Redevelopment Program.

Previous EPA Grants
On May 24, 2012 EPA announced its ARC grantees for 2012.  Grants awarded to the Michigan applicants listed below totaled $2.3 million: 
*City of Battle Creek- $650,000 Revolving Loan Fund (RLF)
*Downriver Community Conference- $650,000 Hazardous Substances Assessment
*Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority- $200,000 Hazardous Substances and $200,000 Petroleum Assessment
*Mecosta County- $200,000 Hazardous Substances and $200,000 Petroleum Assessment
*City of Mt. Pleasant- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Cleanup Grant for the former Mt. Pleasant Regional Center

Wayne County and the City of Jackson received supplemental RLFs through a separate application process. Coalitions were not required to indicate the exact amounts for hazardous and petroleum funds being applied for, therefore the total amounts were included only as hazardous substances grants. 

The EPA announced $2.9 million in brownfield grant awards to seven Michigan applicants (listed below) on June 6, 2011.  The list of awardees nationally for the $76 million that was funded for 2011 can be found on the EPA's website. 
*City of Lansing- $1,000,000 RLF
*Montcalm County- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Assessment, $200,000 Petroleum Assessment
*City of Inkster- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Assessment, $200,000 Petroleum Assessment
*City of Albion- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Assessment
*Lenawee County- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Cleanup
*Northville Charter Township- $200,000 Hazardous Substances Cleanup
*Downriver Community Conference Brownfield Consortium- $500,000 supplemental RLF
