American Institute of Architects
AIA issued 10 Awards for architectural and "green" design solutions that protect and enhance the environment. One was in Michigan - Herman Miller Market Place, Grand Rapids.
Army Environmental Award - 2000
The Army presented environmental awards to 19 installations, teams and individuals for preserving endangered species and conserving natural resources. This included the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems Environmental Management Team of Warren, Michigan. They eliminated nearly 24 pounds of hazardous materials in the vehicles design.
GSA’s Evergreen Award
The Federal GSA (General Service Administration) issues an Evergreen Award annually to recognize furniture supplier efforts in recycling, affirmative procurement, and waste reduction. Michigan manufacturers won the national award 3 years in a row. (No website is available)
Hospitals for a Healthy Environment
The H2E’s highest award is the Environmental Leadership. The Mercury Free Award, by it’s nature, can be won by a hospital only once. The Partners for Change is a P2 award that could be won every year. The award programs began in 2002.
