MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (MDEQ):

Green Construction and Demolition Resources

Retired Engineers Technical Assistance Program (RETAP) - Retired professionals are available through the RETAP to assist Michigan businesses and institutions with pollution prevention.  Businesses of 500 employees or fewer and institutions of any size are eligible. This program provides confidential and nonregulatory on-site pollution prevention assessments for Michigan businesses and institutions, free of charge.

RETAP Technical Demonstration Program - Technology demonstration projects are effective means for addressing the concerns that companies have on the complexity and compatibility of innovative pollution prevention (P2) technologies. Demonstration projects additionally promote P2 technology diffusion within industry by providing the specific "how to" information necessary for the technology's implementation. The goal of the RETAP Technology Demonstration Program is to encourage greater adoption of innovative P2 technologies and practices.

Small Business Pollution Prevention Loan Program (P2 Loan Program) - The P2 Loan Program provides loans of up to $400,000 at an interest rate of five percent or less to businesses with fewer than 500 employees. The loans must be used to implement P2 projects that either eliminate or reduce waste at the point of generation (source reduction), or result in environmentally sound reuse and recycling. Funding for the P2 Loan Program comes from a revolving loan fund, made possible through passage of the Clean Michigan Initiative in November of 1998. Since the program's implementation, a number of Michigan businesses have used the loan to implement P2 projects.

MICHIGAN PUBLIC SERVICES COMMISSION (MPSC):

Michigan Public Services Commission (MPSC) - The MPSC is responsible for the administration of policies and regulations to ensure that energy, communications, and transportation services are provided in an efficient, reliable, and safe manner to adequately meet the needs of Michigan citizens.

Michigan Renewable Energy Program (MREP) - The MREP was established by the legislature, and implemented by the Public Service Commission, to promote the use of renewable energy in the state. A diverse group of individuals and organizations with knowledge and experience in energy production, technology, education, and policy development have been assembled to identify and address barriers to the advancement of renewables and recommend initiatives to increase renewable use in Michigan.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MDOT):

Rideshare/Carpool, VanPool Programs  - Rideshare is a free, computerized carpool and vanpool matching service that assists individuals and groups with their daily work commute. There are thirteen Local Rideshare Offices in Michigan that provides services for commuters commuting into and within their region. MichiVan is a program developed by the MDOT for commuters who choose to ride to and from work each day in a comfortable passenger van. One person volunteers to be the Primary Driver of the van and is allowed to ride free. Riders are assessed a monthly fee. Commuter vanpools are open to the public. Check for available routes and call MichiVan for more details.
