The DEQ will celebrate Earth Day 2010 on Thursday, April 22nd at Constitution Hall in Lansing, Michigan.
DEQ celebrated Earth Day 2009 on April 22 at Constitution Hall in Lansing, Michigan, with more than 3,000 participants and attendees. The participants included 34 school groups, children and staff of DEQ, MDA, and DIT in celebration of Bring Your Child to Work Day, families and friends of DEQ Earth Day poster contest winners, partnering organizations, and visitors from other state agencies. The event featured 52 displays and activities. The atrium of constitution hall was colorfully decorated with over 90 Earth balloons and over 2,100 Earth Day posters created by Michigan students. During the event, DEQ handed out nearly 2,300 environmental education goody bags and over 2,200 tree seedlings to Michigan youth. In addition, DEQ collected 12,000 pounds of electronic waste to be recycled.
