St. Louis Correctional Facility helps Cover Costs of Young Cancer Patient
Staff at the St. Louis Correctional Facility and the Central Michigan Correctional Facility recently presented Gavyn's parents, Kurt and Kristina, with $2,300 to help cover medical expenses. The money was raised from a bake sale, a casual day and pop bottle collection. Three-year-old Gavyn, the grandson of ARUS Jim Hogan of the St. Louis Correctional Facility, was recently diagnosed with cancer that has spread to various parts of his body and is receiving treatment to combat the tumors. When he was 18-months-old, Gavyn survived a type of kidney cancer that only has a 25% survival rate. His parents and everyone involved with the little guy are extremely hopeful he will overcome this bout with cancer as well.
