Under the administrative control of the Florence Crane Correctional Facility in Coldwater, Camp Branch opened June, 1994 as a camp for Level I Female prisoners. Camp Branch occupied eight renovated buildings taken over from the Coldwater Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities (Department of Mental Health) in Branch County. In August 2001, Camp Branch was converted to a male camp, housing Level I prisoners.
