Where can I get help in finding a job?


Go to the "Job Seeker" section of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal for information to guide you through your job search. You can post your resume on web sites like the Michigan Talent Bank. Under "Job Seeker Tool Kit" you can learn how to write a resume and interview for a job. Click on "Michigan Works!" under "Quick Links" to locate the service center nearest to you and to get a complete description of the employment services offered. You can also call 1-800-285-9675.

 

Where can I get free job training?

You may qualify for free job training through your local Michigan Works! Service Center if you meet eligibility requirements.  For the location of your nearest service center, go to the "Job Seeker" section of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on the Michigan Works link under "Quick Links".   You may also call 1-800-285-9675.

 


Where can I get information on apprenticeships?


Go to the home page of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on "Education and Training", then "Apprenticeships". You will find links to information on eligibility and requirements, benefits, and how to find a program.



Can you help me find out about jobs that are in demand?


Go to the home page of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on "Education and Training", then click on Life Long Learning.  Under Life Long Learning, click on occupations with largest job growth.  You may also want to check "Career Exploration", for reports on over 400 occupations, including job outlook, job duties, wages, career ladder, and education and training requirements.

 

 

What jobs can I do if I am a teenager?


Go to the Job Seeker section of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on "Job Seeker Toolkit", then click on "First Job Guides".  "Getting Experience: First Jobs for Teens" has information on how to get a keep a job, as well as laws covering employment for young workers.

 


Where do I register for work to receive unemployment?


Visit your local Michigan Works! Service Center for assistance in registering on-line with the Michigan Talent Bank.  Go to the home page of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal  and click on "Post Your Resume" and you can complete your Michigan Talent Bank resume before going to the service center. You can also contact the nearest office by calling 1-800-285-9675 or go to the JOB SEEKER section of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on the Michigan Works link.

 


Do you have a list of the colleges and universities in Michigan?

 

You can find a list of two and four-year colleges by clicking on the Education and Training section of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal then look at Education Information.

 


I have a disability. Where can I get job training?


Look at the Job Seeker section of Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and then click on "Job Assistance for Persons with Disabilities".  The Michigan Rehabilitation Services Agency can assist you with employment and training and can make referrals to other supportive service agencies that can assist you.

 

 

Where can I find information on starting a business?

 

Go to the "Support Services" section on the home page of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal and click on "Support Services", and then click on Guide to Starting a Business (including free online courses & software).  You will also find other useful  links in this section.

 

 

I'm interested in healthcare jobs, where can I find information on healthcare jobs in Michigan?

 

Go to the home page of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal on the right hand side under Quick Links, then click on the Health Care Job Openings banner.

 

 

Interested in information on Personal Finance?

 

Look for the Personal Finance banner located on the lower right hand side of the Michigan Jobs & Career Portal home page.  You can find a wealth of information such as, personal planning information, mortgages, college tuition planning, and managing 401k accounts just to name a few.
