Purchase an Existing Business

The following forms are completed by the seller in the purchase of a business.  If acquiring a business, Business and Unemployment Tax Clearance Certificates should be obtained by the buyer prior to completing the acquisition.  For information on unemployment tax clearance call 313-456-2180.

 Agency Responsible for Processing

Business Transferor's Notice to Transferee of Unemployment Tax Liability and Rate (Form 1027) Businesses that are selling their assets and transferring the business to another party are required to complete this form and provide it to the buyer.  For information and assistance with completing this form, call 313-456-2180.

Unemployment Insurance Agency

Schedule B Successorship Questionnaire If acquiring any part of the Michigan assets, organization, trade or business of another employer by purchase, rental, lease, inheritance, merger, foreclosure, gift (or any other form of transfer), provide the following information. If multiple acquisitions are made, file a separate Schedule B for each acquisition (photocopies of Schedule B are acceptable).
