Strive for a Safer Drive (S4SD)

Strive for a Safer Drive (S4SD) is a teen driving initiative aimed at reducing serious traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities among Michigan's most inexperienced drivers - teens. It is presented by Ford Philanthropy and the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP). All Michigan high schools are eligible to apply.

S4SD accepting applications for 2025-2026 Program

Strive for a Safer Drive (S4SD) is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 program.
All applications and supporting documents are due by November 14, 2025.
The program has been extended this year -- Now all S4SD campaigns may run until April 2026!

2025-2026 Timeline flyer

  • Application due - November 14, 2025
  • Selected schools notified and campaigns may begin - November
  • Check distribution to participating schools - December
  • Campaigns end - April 2026
  • Final presentation and mandatory documents due - May 1, 2025
  • Top S4SD schools are announced - May 2026
  • All participating high schools are invited to attend the Ford Driving Skills for Life (hands-on event) - Spring 2026
