May 14, 2012 -- The ongoing reconstruction of M-150 (Rochester Road) enters a new phase at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, when all northbound and southbound lanes will close between 2nd Street and University Drive. This section of Rochester Road is expected to open in late July.

During the full closure, traffic will follow posted detours on local streets. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has partnered with the city of Rochester and local business owners to devise strategic plans to allow traffic to still access businesses via alleys.

Locally known as the "Main Street Makeover," the project includes replacing pavement and sidewalks, and upgrading underground utilities and traffic signals. All work on this $7.6 million investment is expected to be completed in mid-November.

More information is available at www.michigan.gov/mdotprojects and www.downtownrochestermi.com/events/main-street-makeover/. Questions can be submitted to the project team via e-mail at mainstreetmakeover@ftch.com.
