What's New at the Michigan Women's Commission

• 2013 Breaking Traditions Awards We attended the 2013 Breaking Traditions Award Ceremony on May 15, 2013, an annual event honoring Michigan students preparing for careers nontraditional for their gender. Patty Cantu, the Director of the Office of Career and Technical Education, also represents the Superintendent of Public Instruction on the Michigan Women's Commission. In her remarks, she noted that "Today, many people take for granted the fact that any career is open to anyone. In the near distant past, that wasn't always so.
