• Retention & Disposal SchedulesRetention & Disposal Schedules identify records/records series that are maintained by government agencies. Schedules define how long records need to be retained to satisfy administrative, fiscal, legal and historical requirements, and they specify if/when records should be destroyed. Schedules are legal documents approved by an agency, the Records Management Services, Archives of Michigan, Auditor General, Attorney General, and the State Administrative Board. Approved schedules provide the only legal authority to destroy public records.
